SEC visits Citizen Economic Empowerment Commission in Zambia

The SEC team had the privilege. The Commission is dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs through financing and other support services. The purpose of the visit was to gain and later share insights into their operations, understand their approach to financing, and observe the impact they are making in the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The Commission is a dynamic organization committed to supporting aspiring and existing entrepreneurs of varying sizes in Zambia. They firmly believe in the power of entrepreneurship to drive sustainable development and create positive change.

During the visit, we learned about the Commission’s financing process and requirements. Entrepreneurs seeking funding are required to present their business proposals, outlining their goals and how they plan to sustain their growth. Leveraging technology and innovation is always an added advantage for applicants. The Commission evaluates each proposal meticulously, focusing on its potential for social impact and sustainability.

Several entrepreneurs have successfully launched their ventures and are making tangible contributions to society. The positive impact has not been without challenges for the Commission and those include inability to grow the financed entities by the entrepreneurs, resulting in non-payment.

Looking ahead, the Commission aims to expand its reach and support more entrepreneurs with ground-breaking ideas. They are exploring strategic partnerships with other organizations and seeking to attract additional funding to broaden their impact and further empower Zambia’s entrepreneurial landscape.

In conclusion, our visit to the Commission supporting entrepreneurs in Zambia was both enlightening and inspiring. Their commitment to fostering social change through entrepreneurship is commendable. By empowering local entrepreneurs and innovators, they are contributing to the sustainable development of Zambia and creating a brighter future for the country.
