What Our Learners Say

  • I am incredibly grateful to the SEC team for helping me rediscover hope for the future. They taught me the importance of mindset shifts. We all face challenges, and our natural instinct might be to avoid them. However, I’ve learned to embrace challenges as opportunities to learn and grow. Failure is not something to fear, but a stepping stone on the path to success.

Growing up in a large family of 12 in a poor village, access to basic necessities like food and education was a constant struggle. I vividly remember the disappointment of passing my ordinary level exams and gaining admission to the advanced level program at Kanombe/EFOTEC in Kigali. Unfortunately, due to a lack of school fees, this dream remained unfulfilled. Discouraged but determined, I enrolled in a nearby, affordable school that accepted students who couldn’t afford their first-choice institutions. Initially, I felt overwhelmed and isolated. My attendance was sporadic, and my grades reflected my lack of focus. Failing my first year of advanced level was a wake-up call.

Looking back, I realized that while I excelled in my previous school, my new environment demanded a different approach. I recommitted myself to my studies, attending all classes and actively participating. I improved my discipline, communication skills, and collaboration with classmates. These positive changes were reflected in my grades. I started performing well, eventually becoming the top student in my class. This experience solidified the importance of re-framing the mindset and collaboration in achieving success.

The SEC’s teachings mirrored my own experiences. They emphasized the importance of moving past negative experiences, overcoming limiting beliefs, and focusing on a brighter future. They instilled in me the value of adaptation and reflection as essential tools for growth, even in the face of adversity.
The challenges I’ve faced have shaped me into a resilient individual. Thanks to the SEC’s guidance on adaptability, mindset shifts, and overcoming limiting beliefs, I am now equipped to approach any challenge with a positive attitude and unwavering determination.

This journey of learning and growing alongside the SEC team has been invaluable. I am excited to continue challenging my mental paradigms and reaching my full potential.

  • I’ve experienced a whirlwind of emotions but in all of it, I am glad that I am taking my time to unlearn and relearn and I will be sharing some thoughts.

Personally, my journey has been hindered by limiting beliefs. I once scorned the idea of starting small and shunned ventures that seemed beneath me. I also had a disdain for what we call stinking riches. I remember telling friends that I don’t want the type of Dangote, Otedola, Terry Waya and the likes kind of money, ‘I am not asking for much,’ is what I would say, having a comfortable life with my family in my own house, a good car and small funds to take care of whatever emergencies is okay for me. This aversion to wealth led me to distance myself from successful friends and individuals once they climbed the ladder, fearing their perceived arrogance and the potential shame of inadequacy.

However, in my coaching sessions, my SEC coach literally walked through my head, mind and soul, if it was a church service, I fell under her anointing. I am transforming of some of these limiting beliefs that I embrace dearly, I am slowly liberating myself from these mental constraints. I have come to understand that there are thoughts and patterns that holds us back to realizing our goals and these thoughts and patterns are formed through: Upbringing and early beliefs in life, Education and learning, Personal experiences, Society norms, Media Influence, Cognitive biases, personal reflection and critical thinking.

The above could have either been in your control or not but recognizing and challenging these patterns is crucial for personal growth. Bob Proctor said “change your paradigm, change your life”… *I am Unleashing my Real Self, will you???

  • This course is a healing therapy for me. It has brought a deep sense of awareness and appreciation of my gifts. I was beginning to feel it was normal to be in hiding because of some failed events in the past, until this course came to illuminate my thinking to see things differently. Seralaaa is a well of light and relevance and I am super grateful to be a catalyst of this new change as well. I see myself constructively criticizing norms and seeing the brighter sides to things now. O! The real interviews and lessons from the African Entrepreneurs brings a more relatable sense of hope and reality in Entrepreneurship.

The coaching sessions cannot be left out of this story – the concern, the love, the attention to details, the time I experience with our insightful coaches… Thank you Serala! As a growing Entrepreneur, I see Africa rising as the leading giant of sustainable global discussions from where I stand now. Thank you, Serala!

  • The course is loaded with relatable, life changing modules and I got to learn from real life entrepreneurs who are doing well in business and to hear their stories which have been a roller coaster. My favorite modules were:
    1.How to Fail
The course moderator, Mrs. Veronica Mphathi, who is the co-founder of SEC, shared her real-life hard failures from some of her businesses which I could relate to and got healing from that because all along I have been thinking I’m not good in business due to many failed attempts of my entrepreneurial journey, only to appreciate that FAILURE IS PART OF SUCCESS. I found closure in the module, and I’m motivated to keep on trying until I get it right.
    2.Challenging your Comfort Zones
The key lesson that I picked is that we need to embrace discomforts of every sort as a catalyst for growth. I took the lessons seriously, as of now I task myself to do something that is out of my comfort zone every week.
My SEC coaching sessions were therapeutic, in the sense that I was given an opportunity to reflect on situations, events and moments that could still influence my paradigm in a negative way. From the first coaching session I got healing, understanding and acceptance of the things that happened a long time and still had an influence on the way I think. Right now, I’m over those moments and hello to the new ME.
The second coaching session was on “steroids, filled with endorphins” 😊. The session continued to wash off my limiting paradigms/beliefs. One specific paradigm that I had from way back is that ‘I’m not a morning person’ …well, my coach brutally told me if I’m serious about being a high performer, that “labelling” needs to change. Happy to inform you that the girl is a now a 4am club member. How incredible!
In a nutshell, the SEC course is a germ that every person needs to experience, and it always feels like should I have shifted my paradigm way back, I could be a far in life both professionally and business wise. Like my coach said there are two types of people i.e 99% who know what needs to be done, and DON’T do it and 1% who know what needs to be done and DO it. It’s up to an individual to try and commit to be among the 1%.
I must say it is not easy, most days on the journey are HARD, which is where the results are made. The anxieties that come with having a lot of ideas to implement because of the shift in the mental paradigm. After all the shift is always a Work-In-Progress.
Cheers!! See you at the TOP.
