Women Driving Botswana’s Economic Resilience: Entrepreneurship and the Accounting Profession

This weekend, our CEO Ms Veronica Mphathi had the honor of speaking to the BAC Professional Accountancy Society, sharing key insights on entrepreneurship and career growth for finance professionals.

She emphasized that entrepreneurship is not an identity—it is an avenue open to all, including accountants. Finance professionals should recognize and leverage their skills, talents, and experiences to create multiple income streams. However, she also stressed that the mindset required to thrive in a structured career is different from the one needed to navigate the unpredictable world of entrepreneurship.

Adaptability, resourcefulness, and self-leadership are essential in both spaces, and accounting professionals should embrace an entrepreneurial mindset to add value not only in business but also in the workplace. She encouraged student accountants to see employment as a platform for gaining practical experience, which is critical in building sustainable businesses beyond side hustles.

A special thank you to Tlotliso Dire, Bofelo Innocent Kgosiemang, CIMA Adv Dip MA and the entire BAC PAS team for their professionalism in organizing this impactful session.
